Jinpa's Three-Year Retreat Fund
This fundraiser helps Jinpa (aka Adam) with costs of his meditation retreat. Because he is in retreat until 2020, his mother, Susan Lambert, manages this page and his funds for him.

A Note from Adam:
In early 2015, I requested and received permission from the Venerable Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche to enter the traditional 3-year, 3-month Karma Kagyu Buddhist retreat at Karme Ling in Delhi, NY. From autumn 2016 until early 2020, I will be a cloistered monastic practicing meditation the majority of every day, with no contact to the outside world except postal mail.
A retreat of this kind is entered with the intention to benefit all, not oneself alone, and I deeply embrace that vow. With the guidance of accomplished masters, one works to calm the mind, minimize negativity, cultivate positive qualities (such as patience, generosity, kindheartedness), and even to experience for oneself the nature of mind and one’s inextricable connection to all beings. Upon completing the retreat, one becomes an ordained Lama ("teacher" in Tibetan).
Retreat costs total about $30,000 for over three years' tuition, room and board, and other personal and practice-related expenses which arise during retreat. Because I will lack any income during the retreat, I am seeking financial support for this special endeavor. I am asking practitioners and friends to make donations at whatever level is comfortable for them, on a one-time basis or over the course of the retreat, to help me accomplish this goal.
It is said in Buddhism that the merit of supporting virtuous acts is equal to the merit of doing them oneself. In my heart, based on our interdependent connection, I believe this to be true. Perhaps you aspire to do something similar but current conditions do not allow it. This could be a powerful opportunity to gain merit and auspicious connection to accomplished teachers, the retreat and the goodness of simply helping others.
