Five years ago in St. Louis, Missouri, I picked up a clarinet for a band tryout. Little did I know at the time how far it would take me. Making music seemed to come naturally, but I learned the value of hard work and what it takes to be the best I can be. My hard work paid off in the few years afterwards, being rewarded with numerous opportunities to play with phenomenal musicians and ensembles in the midwest.
Last year, my family and I moved away from the midwest to Honolulu, Hawaii, and I immersed myself in my education and music. I was blessed with the chance to be a member of two of Honolulu's top high school ensembles, the Moanalua High School Symphonic Wind Ensemble (SWE) and the Symphony Orchestra (SO).
In March 2015, I will have the amazing opportunity to travel, tour, and perform with SWE at the Bands of America Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. The total cost will be about $4,000. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform, learn, and make memories with an amazing team of young musicians from Hawaii. All donations are greatly appreciated and will be used towards the payment of this trip.
