Jezebel Spa- so freakin close.

Friends and family,
As you may know, I find myself unexpectedly, unceremoniously, unemployed 3 weeks before Christmas.

Isn't that great? :D

I cannot believe my luck. I've been given an opportunity to get real. To live my life on my own terms. I have the opportunity to start the new year with a whole new life. I’ve rented a booth in Grandview. I've got a space. I’m diving into being self employed.

As you may also know, I've had health problems lately. For one, I am mentally disabled. This is no secret. I have bipolar disorder 1. I have had traumatic brain injury quite a few more times than was good for me. And now I've got some weird neurological thing that's probably MS.

Yeah. And? Everyone has a sob story- that's not the point.

The point is, I can't wait to get back to work. And I'm good at my job. Really good, seriously. Ask around (or read the reviews on LinkedIN or Cbus52 and Yelp)

. I love my work. I love my clients and feel the best i *can* feel when I am working. But maybe I am just too weird to be successful working for someone else. Maybe I should just do my thing, by myself, and hope that my dedication to my craft, my service and skill speaks louder than my disabilities.

I've been working on a business plan for years, just for fun. It's complete. It works. It works for my abilities and my life.

Jezebel Spa represents to me the art of adornment. I imagine a feminist driven model of beauty. No body policing, no body shaming allowed. My business will operate under MY values in regards to ecological impact and ethics and will welcome all clients regardless of ability or disability, sex, gender identity, race, creed, religion, orientation, body type, relationship model, etc etc.
Instead of "what makes you look attractive? "
I want to ask people "what makes you feel fancy? "

That's the philosophy. Here's the facts.
I have a 3 year deep book of clients ready to contact.
I have a network of support to help me to set up and maintain the business/tax/legal aspects of the business
I have successfully worked for myself in the past, as a winner of the Coldwell Banker King Thompson Rising Star award for  1st year real estate agents. (betcha didn't know that)
I have a very solid network in Columbus Ohio, through activism, performance and art.
I am not bound by a non-compete.
I have most of the equipment I need.
I already have a space, that I can afford, in Grandview 1 block from my previous location.

And most of all I bring to the table an absolute refusal to be sqaushed by this world.
I'm a fucking unicorn.
I will make this work because it has to work.

I need cash. I need money to buy product to use and to sell. I need business cards and service menus and little wooden sticks and a loupe and steamer and fees for vendors licenses.  And I need it by January 5th, because that's when the doors are opening, one way or another.

If I meet my goal by December 31, every person that invests in me will receive a generous return on their investment, in the form of a gift certificate and gift at the grand opening. Not to mention my undying gratitude.

Save the unicorns!
