Jeremy is 22 years old.  He lives with his mom and dad, has 2 brothers, 1 sister, 6 nieces and 3 nephews.  He graduated from Stagg High School in 2011 and continued his education at Moraine Valley and then UIC.  He worked part time, while going to school.

In early December 2014, after weeks of migraines, changes in eyesight and vomiting, he was taken to the ER.  After many tests, Jeremy was admitted to ICU and was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain cancer, called Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) type IV.    He had the best neurosurgeon in the area and was able to have 90-95% of the tumor removed.  In January, Jeremy went through chemo and radiation daily for 6 weeks.  He was also going to therapy 3 days a week.  After giving his body some time to heal, he started another round of chemotherapy on March 19th.  This chemo was extremely potent and aggressive, but a cure was still not guaranteed.   Shortly after that, he was admitted to the hospital, due to daily migraines, where we were told that he had excess fluid on his brain, which caused brain swelling, and needed to have it drained.  They put Jeremy on a high dose steriods to reduce the swelling.

While awaiting the doctors' decision to start chemo again, Jeremy started having trouble with his balance.  Again, he was admitted to the hospital for more testing, where our family was told the devastating news that the
tumor has spread to other parts of his brain.  With more chemo and radiation done, the cancer continued to spread.  Unfortunately, it spread to the spine and brain stem, where chemo and radiation is no longer able to effectively kill the cancer cells.  Currently, he is on hospice at home, where they are trying to keep him comfortable and pain free.  We ask you to please consider a donation to assist with the mounting expenses related to his condition.  Thank you so much in advance for your time and considerations!

The prognosis for glioblastoma is usually reported in years of "median survival." Median survival is the time at which an equal number of patients do better and an equal number of patients do worse. With standard treatment, median survival for adults with an anaplastic astrocytoma is about two to three years. For adults with more aggressive glioblastoma, treated with concurrent temozolamide and radiation therapy, median survival is about 14.6 months and two-year survival is 30%.

All donations will be given to Jeremy's parents for all of his medical bills and services.
