Raising Up Jenn

Jenn has been searching for an answer to discover the mysteries related to her health for several years now. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune disease, Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Since then, Jenn has been receiving treatments with numerous clinical specialists - Internists, Dermatologists, Gynecology specialists, even the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. While these doctors have continued to persevere with Jenn's symptoms and reactions to multiple medications, her condition is seeming to continually deteriorate.

At the present time, Jenn is on seven daily medications, two vitamin supplements and one injection taken at the onset of a migraine. These medications and their side effects coupled with the excruciating daily pain from Fibromyalgia and the seemingly endless exhaustion from chronic fatigue syndrome have left Jenn without the ability to take care of many daily activities of living by herself. She has been unable to work since prior to her diagnoses in 2013.

"I think people's biggest misconception with Fibromyalgia" Jenn says, "is that they see you looking ok for an hour or so one day and think you must be fine. What they may not realize is that it took all your week's energy to get out of the house for that hour. I know if I feel good and overdo it, I will feel that pain for the next three days."

Towards the end of 2014, the Mayo Clinic accepted Jenn into their Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain Clinic. This was a several week long clinical program, joined with an educational piece that gave patients tools on how best to manage their symptoms in the short and long term. Jenn did learn that although there is no known cause or cure for Fibromyalgia, symptoms sometimes begin after a physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event.

Jenn was the only party involved in a rollover motor vehicle accident in 2006 where she nearly died. This accident was determined with 99% likelihood to be the significant physical and psychological traumatic event from which her Fibromyalgia originated.

Jenn has now begun a treatment program with a truly unique spine care clinic that offers ultrasound and other alternative treatment plans. Unfortunately, the clinic is 55 miles from home, and the visits are not covered by insurance. Interesting things have been uncovered related to environmental and food allergies Jenn has, as well as dysfunction of some of her organs. Perhaps the brightest moment of hope happened on the second clinic visit.  After an hour of intensive spinal cord testing, Jenn heard these words from the doctor:

"The good news is ... We can fix this."

Part of what was discovered at that visit was that Jenn had an unresolved whiplash injury from that rollover car accident 9 years ago which had never been treated.
The doctor at the spine care clinic plans to treat the area with ultrasound, which massages the soft tissues, nerves, muscles, tendons, ligaments. No x-ray radiation is used. The ultrasound promotes a more rapid healing technique, which will need to be closely monitored since it will likely intensify the pain associated with Fibromyalgia.

Herbal, nutritional and lifestyle therapies will also be introduced during the treatment period, of which Jenn's is estimated to be at least one year.

The campaign total is for Jenn's first year of treatment, based on 2-3 visits per month. This includes:

▪ Treatment at the spine care clinic and alternative healing center {not covered by insurance}
▪ Transportation to & from clinic
▪ Fuel for vehicle
▪ Meal before or after appointment
▪ Supplements
▪ Nutritional augmentation

God Bless each of you for reading Jenn's story.
