Help Us Buy Our House!

My name is Jennifer, and I am a single mother raising an amazing 8 year old boy.  I have had help from my family in the past, but very little help from my son's father.  I am on government assistance, but I do not abuse it.  Like many other American adults, I have had a very difficult time finding stable employment since 2009.  I just moved to Southern Mississippi after spending a year in California.  While in California, I was only able to find part time employment, as well as do some babysitting.

Now that I am back on the Gulf Coast, I have found two part time positions.  My primary job is with the United States Post Office.  I haven't started yet, but I will be working as a Rural Carrier Associate, which is basically a substitute position.  It has great pay, but no benefits, and I am only guaranteed one full day per week of work.  However, any time a regular carrier calls out sick, takes vacation, or just wants a personal day, I could be called in.  My other part time position is with Pizza Hut as a delivery driver.  I get an average of 20 hours a week making minimum wage plus tips.  I am only in my second week at Pizza Hut.

I am very grateful and excited to have found both jobs within just two months time of living in Mississippi, but I am literally starting from scratch.  Other than some occasional help from my mother (just for gas money), I have had no income since my Zack's father stopped paying child support a couple of months ago.  When he was paying, it was less than $300 per month.

With all of that in mind, I am seeking assistance in putting together a down payment on a beautiful mobile home that is for sale in the neighborhood where we are currently living.  (We live with some friends at the moment, who were kind enough to let us stay here until we get on our feet.)  I will upload photos of the house, but it is a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom mobile home with all new paint, new carpeting/tile floors, washer/dryer hookups, a dishwasher, and - it has to be said - the prettiest little walkway from the driveway to the front porch!  I cannot express enough how much I love this house!!!  The only thing I have ever really owned as an adult is 50% of a car that I cosigned with my mom several years ago.  The house is "For Sale by Owner," so I won't have to go through that pesky credit approval process.  I just need to come up with $2,500 down, then $550 or $575 per month (I can't remember which was accurate), which includes the lot rent for this neighborhood!  I *know* I can afford the mortgage, lot rent, and utilities with both the Pizza Hut and Post Office jobs.  I just don't know how long it would take me to save up $2500 since I am, as I mentioned, starting with basically nothing to my name.  If I can get at least half of the $2500, I am almost certain I can come up with the rest.  I am just putting that amount as a starting point for a fund raiser.  Thank you in advance for ANY help you can possibly give, even $1 or $5.
