A Story of Hope:  In Memory of Sheldon Hall

Message:

These days everyone has gone through hardships and turmoil and no one has an easy life; but I am writing to you in hopes that I may reach some who are better equipped to help my brother Jim and hopefully give him a new lease on life.

When he separated from his wife; he lived in his father's home and we all worked together to keep our father out of nursing home as he had raised all five of his children by himself.  Our father passed in 2007 and left my brother the house. However my brother had to go to a private lender to get a mortgage as he had no credit and no job since moving to the Chatham-Kent area.

Jim; a single father is not only having difficultly coping with the loss of his youngest son but having hardship maintaining the family home.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My brother is not the handy-dandy fix it up kind of person; so plumbing; or leaking roof or fixing a car has never been something he was taught; he just went to work and provided for his family (as he did work full time before moving to the area).

Finally after putting out resumes everywhere-- a break through; he got a job in Leamington through a temp agency; and the people that hired him appreciate his hard work and has been hired full time and promoted to driving fork lift.  His spirits were lifted having a full time job finally trying to get ahead in life.

Then his worst fear happened; although not how he imagined. He feared that leaving his children alone he would get a call that his house had burnt down; or something going wrong between the kids getting in trouble; as his one boy with ADHD has had problems.

And then his heart got broken; he lost his youngest son in a tragic drowning accident at his grade eight grad party!  My heart aches for him every day, and I can't imagine his pain!!! I remember us looking for his son that terrible night; and the cry of pain heard when taken to the place of his son's demise.  He said to me one day “I lost a piece of my heart”.

This accident has left him grief-stricken and I’ve watched him age twenty years in less than six months; sometimes barely making out of bed to go to work; and sometimes not at all.  He trying to cope with his other children’s loss and although very understanding; I feel he is losing all hope.

His bills have spiraled out of control and I am hoping to raise money to save his home for his other children either through donations or by finding someone who can lead me in the direction of being able to roll all his debts into one ie furnace; repair of roof; back taxes; car payment and mortgage.

Any supplies for this cause you may offer or any other charity that you may know that can assist me to reach my goal would be much appreciated.  This family has lost so much; I am really hoping to reach the right people to give some hope to this grieving family.

I realize that nothing will ever replace his loss but I am hoping to relieve some of the stress in his life so he is able to cope as a family again.

I am most grateful for all who have supported me physically and emotionally through my journey to find support for this cause.

Sincerely,

Kate
