Mike Hasme Benefit Fund

I would like to think everyone has had a mentor that has touched their lives. Someone that lead them down the path that defines who they are today.
One of my mentors was Mike Hasme.
I first met Mike when he moved to my neighborhood when I was 9 years old. Mike is 3 years older than me, so he knew of things before I did.
Mike was the guy that turned me on to hard rock when I was in my early teens. Before hard rock I listened to Top 40 radio with my favorite artists being the Jackson 5 and Elton John. Although I had always been fascinated with the sounds of Alice Cooper, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath (what little I heard on my AM transistor radio) I really didn’t know much about it.

Mike was the guy that turned me on to Led Zeppelin, UFO, KISS, Frank Zappa, The Who, and so many more. He would buy the rock albums and we would sit in his room for hours listening to the songs while I read everything I could on the album jackets and sleeves.

When I was old enough, my Mom let me go to concerts with him. He took me to see Alice Cooper, Edgar Winter, KISS, and UFO just to name a few.

In 2014 Mike had a medical emergency brought on by gallstones. He was hospitalized and put into a chemically induced coma. When he came out of the coma he learned half his pancreas and a kidney had been removed and he was breathing with the help of a ventilator tube going through a hole in his throat. Also he has to learn to walk all over again.

Mike has been in the hospital for over 6 months and his bill has amounted to over $3 million. Luckily he has medical insurance, but he won’t be back to work for quite some time.

I’m hoping the money raised will help pay some of his homestead bills until he can get back on his feet (literally).
