Help Jay and Lisa buy a van and with other financial needs!
As most of you know, Jay had a life-changing accident in August while cutting down a tree at his house, and he nearly died. The accident left him paralyzed from the chest down. He went to the Shepherd Center for rehabilitation for 100 days, and finally was able to get back home at Christmas time.
Jay came in 2nd place in the NMEDA national mobility awareness contest voting part of the contest with a whopping 79,541 votes!!! While Jay sadly did not win a van, this contest truly brought a community together to show love and support for a great man. We now turn, as a community, to attempt to buy this handicapped accessible van for Jay anyway!
This 79,541 is a significant number in that it vaulted Jay up to 2nd place in the votes, but it would also be about the financial amount needed to buy a new van ($50,000 - 60,000), buy a racing wheelchair, handicapped accessible dining room table and computer desk, and put a small dent toward all of the mountain of medical bills that Jay and Lisa are enduring.
While I know this 79,541 is a lofty goal, I believe we can do it! This is just one avenue for fundraising, and more opportunities will be announced soon.
