Memorial Bench for James Minshall

James Minshall Sr. was murdered in our family business, JR's Jewelry on September 17, 2014 in what the police call a botched robbery. He was 71 years old and had so may more amazing years left to spend with his friends and family! He left for work that morning like any other morning. I remember telling him "see ya tonight old fart" and my daughter giving him 2 bye bye kisses! Then out the door he went. Who knew at 10:20 am our lives would be forever changed! Within 30 minutes of receiving the call that he had been shot he was gone! I relive that day over and over! I remember the phone call and hearing my brother's voice on the other end. I remember when they told me at the hospital he was gone!
My dad was taken from us! We never got to hold his hand and tell him goodbye while he peacefully left this world!
This memorial bench would really mean a lot to me and my family! It would be a place that we could go and sit and share a memory of him!
Dad loved the zoo. He especially loved it when his granddaughter, Willow came along. Every holiday weekend we would all venture off to the Henry Doorly Zoo for the day. Willow and Papa had a special place - the serenity gardens. Everytime we went they would walk up the paths through the flowers together. He was really looking forward to the elephants coming back too.
I would like to have a memorial bench for my Dad at the zoo. We would like it to be by the giraffe viewing area -- my mom's fave zoo animal. It would be a place where Willow and my mom and our family and friends can go and sit and share a day at the zoo with Papa. I have so many amazing memories of time spent at the zoo with Dad. I still remember the first time he pet a sting ray, rode the carousel with Mom, dangled his feet on the skyfari with little Willow and took his first walk through the serenity gardens holding her tiny little hand. It would be a great place to be able to go and sit and share the day at the zoo with him!
