Jack is a Fighter

https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jackwilliams3 ‌Many of you know Jack; he's into just about everything including soccer, church, volunteering, play dates, etc. But for anyone who has never met Jack, just know he is the brightest light in any dark room; a typical two-and-a-half year old boy who always smiles and loves animals, superheroes, and playing with his cars and baby brother Braeden. A kid who has more energy than the Energizer Bunny. A kid who was not sick often and got over colds easily. So the shock waves of his diagnosis has been a hard pill for his family to swallow.

On April 9th, Jack woke up ill with a nosebleed that appeared to have bled all night. By the next day, Jack had not yet started feeling better and had begun turning yellow. Jack’s parents, Mimi and John, took Jack to Greer Memorial Hospital where he was briefly seen before being rushed lights and sirens to Greenville Memorial Children’s Hospital where he was admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. On April 11 Jack was diagnosed with Pre-B Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  Here is a good link to get the basics of the disease:  https://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/health/a/all.  Since Jack’s diagnosis, his family and doctors have created a personalized treatment plan and they started aggressively attacking the disease with chemo April 13th. Currently his treatment plan will encompass every bit of three years.

Mimi and John have both served their communities as first responders; a career and calling that Mimi selflessly gave up to raise Jack and baby Braeden, and one that John still bravely answers every day. Their commitment to their family, their community, and their church is awe-inspiring and often only strived for by others. For two people who give and give so much day in and day out, they have found themselves in a challenging position and it is time for us, their community and family, to give back just a little bit of what they have given us. All donations received will help pay for the treatment that will rid Jack’s body of this disgusting disease and other expenses the family incurs along the way. Any unused funds will be donated to another family in need. A gift of any amount is truly a gift of life and is appreciated more than words can relay. Please share Jack’s story and show everyone that #JACKISAFIGHTER.
