Zonia's World Youth Day Trip

Hi, this is Zonia, I am 14 years old.  Five years ago my siblings and I got separated from our biological mother and since have been leaving with distant relatives who became our legal guardians ever since.  

In preparation for my 15th birthday, coming up in Decempber 2015, I am starting to fundraise money to go see Pope Francis at the  World Youth Day 2016  in Krakow, Poland.  Don't get me wrong, I was torn between having a quinceañera or going on a trip.  I decided to go see Pope Francis since it is once in a time opportunity. I can have the quinceañera any other time, even if it is a small, low key celebration. 


World Youth Day is an eight-day long pilgrimage with Pope Francis. I will be going with my youth group The Neocatechumenal Way, playing my guitar and singing.

Throughout the year and a half until the pilgrimage, I will be -along with my family- handmaking craft projects and homemade tamales that I will be offering for a suggested donation to be able to reach my goal. I kickstarted the project on November 2014 by selling my handmade tree ornaments. My goal is to fundraise $4,500 total to cover the airfare, lodging, food, passport fees, and other things needed for the pilgrimage.  Sales alone will not be enough to get me there, this is why I'm also asking for straight forward donations.
