Tug needs your help and so do I!
I am so torn about using this site because for years I waited for the time when I could be a responsible dog owner. I entered into this rescue aware of costs and requirements of owning a dog. What transpired in less than 3 days of rescue is overwhelming.
Here is the short story on Tug...
After years of dog sitting and drooling over everyone else's dog, my own dog rescue mission was in full force. I had visited local shelters and communicated with various rescue groups when one little puppy face on a website called out to me. One week ago today I went to a local rescue center not far from my house in Chicago and fell in love with a petite little poodle mix. Tug was the one!
Over the next 48 hours Tug showed signs of a respiratory problem. I made a vet appointment for the following evening; however, she never made it to the appointment because at 5:00 a.m. my little pup was gasping for air. I contacted the facility where I rescued her and the answering service provide the local 24 hour emergency vet hospital number. I called and said that we were on our way!
By 6:00 a.m. she was in ICU with a 104.5 temp and a pneumonia diagnosis! I was shocked by how quickly she deteriorated! She was in need of 24-hour care and this specialty center was able to provide the care she needed.
Why does Tug need your help? 1) The pet insurance I elected for covers respiratory illness, except pneumonia, 2) the organization that I adopted her from was unable to aide in her care because her needs were too great for the resources they could offer, and 3) none of the organizations involved can offer financial assistance.
Tug received wonderful 24-hour care and is now able to be home. Her medical expenses have reached $3,200.00 for the emergency care needed.
