Twin Cities Pads Homeless Shelter has been helping those who find themselves with place to call home.

For 30 years TCP has provided a warm place to sleep, food, clothing, and help with jobs and a place to call their own.

Our resident's come from all walks of life, with many issues from domestic violence, health and mental issue, foreclosures, loss of jobs, and plain old bad luck.

Twin Cities Pads is located in Sterling Illinois in the Northwest part of Illinois. We serve not just Sterling, Illinois but a whole area that is located on a major travel corridor heading into Chicago, and is one of just a few emergency shelters in a large rural area.

This part of Illinois has been hit really hard by the economic down turn. Loosing many of our area key industries, such as steel and auto industries.

Thirty years ago a group of people in our community saw a need and working with local area churches and civic groups TCP was born. Each night one of the local church took it in turn to be the shelter. Building on that foundation a permanent shelter was established. In 2007 we moved in to our new location here in Sterling Illinois. The Shelter has accommodations for 28 including women and families with small children. The Shelter serves two meals a day 7 days a week and has full laundry facility and we can also provide clothing for those who come to us with literally the cloths on their back, and provide them with personal items they may not have.

The Shelter helps between 60 and 100 homeless individual every year.

We are very proud of the Shelter on many levels. We do a lot with a little and this fundraiser represents nearly half of our annual budgets. We a primarily funded through the community. The shelter is also primarily run by volunteers, and always has a constant level of supervision and over site.

We are one of many great organization and the competition for money is tough.

Our mission is to help people and be a light to those lost in the darkness. Please help us keep the lights on!
