Founded in 2016, It’s Our World Too Inc. (IOWT) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) in New York City specializing in inclusive recreation activities for children and young adults diagnosed with a developmental disability and/or mental health diagnosis.
IOWT seeks to help youth ages 5 to 17 engage in community-based activities while strengthening their social skills through increased participation in enjoyable group recreational activities.
Mission:
IOWT is dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth with developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses through inclusive social recreation activities throughout New York City.
Fundraising:
As a graduate student in The New School’s Nonprofit Management (MS) program, with over 9 years of experience working with children who have developmentally disabilities and/or mental health disorders, IOWT’s founder, Colin Cowan-DeWitt, has an unprecedented passion for helping children diagnosed with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses.
Funds donated to the organization will go towards hosting group recreation activities, which will help to increase and strengthen social skills. Both the children enrolled in our programs and their families will benefit from the positive, enriching and mentally stimulating environment in which these activities will be taking place.
We are extremely appreciative of the generous contributions of supporters like you. By making a donation, your tax-deductible gift will enable IOWT to host a variety of events that the youth will be sure to enjoy.
With your help, IOWT will host its very first event in July 2018! Our 1st event will be a Paint n’ Sip at The Painting Lounge. The children will be offered light refreshments throughout the event. If we are able to meet our goal, we will host free bi-weekly events to children throughout the remainder of Summer 2018.
