The Prune Dryer's Restoration

Donation protected
As a historical landmark, The Prune Dryer is in much need of revitalization.  In the early 1900's, this locally known barn was one of over 200 fruit dryers that gave Clark County WA the claim to fame (then) as the "Prune Drying Capital of the World".  Who knew?  Now it's one of only a handful left standing and the first Prune Dryer on the Washington State's Historical Agricultural Buildings Register.

As the host of local dances and a work horse of barns, The Prune Dryer is located along the Fruit Valley Highway between the Vancouver and Ridgefield areas. We hope that one day The Prune Dryer will again be a point of community gatherings. Our goal is to cover the costs of building materials and permitting to restore it to it's former glory.

The inital focus of architectural resoration will be the structural aspects from the roof down.  The pier and posts foundation, wall framing, the dock flooring and window restoration.  Eventually we need to expand this project to include all new lighting and it's wiring, a restroom (accessible of course), building accessibility and safety aspects that are part of construction code today that didn't exist 100+ years ago.

Please consider any donation(s) to our project as it will bring back to life a barn that one day stood in glory 100+ years ago.  A barn that the community can take pride in with each visit!
