New Program Space for Special Needs

The Pekin Park Foundation (www.pekinparkfoundation.org) is endorsing the fundraising efforts of the Illinois River Valley Special Recreation Association (www.irvsra.org) to renovate approximately 1,800 sq. ft. of space in the historic Pekin Park District Mineral Springs Bathhouse now known as the Robert N. Blackwell Administration Building.
The Illinois River Valley Special Recreation Association (IRVSRA) is a cooperative extension of Pekin and Fon du Lac Park Districts to provide recreational programs and leisure services for residents with developmental disabilities.
The newly renovated space will be used solely by IRVSRA as program and activity space. Our special needs participants will now have a place in the park association to call their own, a familiar, consistent, place to host programs, classes, clubs, day camps, and much more.
IRVSRA itself will be kicking off this $30K fundraising effort with the $1,200 raised in our recent Kickball Tournament sponsored by www.playinforapurpose.com.
