Hello,
I'm a 42 yr old wife and mother of 2. I work as a county police dispatcher, and I'm also a U.S. Army veteran. On the afternoon of October 29, my husband and I decided to jump on our motorcycles and head out for a cup of coffee. We never made it. On our way the worst thing in my life happened. While I was proceeding through a green light, a vehicle driven by a 79 year old male, illegally turned against traffic and hit me, causing me to fall off my bike. After being thrown from my bike I was then struck by a dump truck and pinned underneath the wheel and drug down the street. I can remember my husband pulling me out while crying telling me everything is going to be ok, as everyone else at the intersection stood screaming in horror. My right leg was torn off and my left leg was crushed. My pelvis was fractured. I sustained a brain injury and internal injuries requiring a major abdominal surgery. I have been hospitalized for the past 6 weeks, undergoing numerous surgeries, and painful skin grafts in an attempt to save my left leg. We have since come to realize that life will never be as it was before. We have many new unexpected expenses such as a wheelchair accessible vehicle, lost wages, prosthetics, and my pending loss of employment. Any help would be greatly appreciated in our time of need.
