Induced lactation is when a woman* lactates without a pregnancy. While there are different motivations for inducing lactation, the science and basic process remains the same. Inducing lactation can be a long, complex process, and the research and resources available are either complex scientific journal articles or a small, overly simplistic section of a book or website.
For several years I've been interested in, and personally engaged in, inducing lactation. I've assisted adoptive mothers, women who want to nurse a romantic partner, and women who induced as a solo journey. In doing so I realized that there are no books or websites that address the topic of inducing lactation (regardless of motivation for doing so) as a whole, and I'm going to change that.
I’m currently working to expand my website InducingLactation.org , and am in the research and outlining phase of my first book "Inducing Lactation Made Simple". My goal is to present scientifically supported evidence in a way that’s accessible and fun to read, and also to include the wisdom and experiences of people who have induced lactation.
I’m raising funds to allow me to work full-time on the book and website InducingLactation.org for 2 months (without starving), to purchase or gain access to research materials and studies, to purchase a camera and make better videos specific to the inducing process, to pay for appropriate hosting for videos and imagoes, and print hard copies of the book (when completed).
Any amount earned over the goal (I can dream, can't I?) will be dedicated to additional research, a professional editor and index, and an inducing lactation workshop and book tour. I hope you’ll help to support this project, even a few dollars helps. There are 9 awesome reward levels too!
*I am using the word "woman" here, but that's overly simplistic. Not everyone who induces lactation identifies as a woman, not all women can lactate, and people who were not assigned female at birth can induce lactation.
