In Memory of Jean Pollard “Jean Bean”
As most of you know, my sweet momma passed away on October 16th, 2020 after a 10 year + battle with Alzheimers.
For almost 9 years, we cared for my momma at home. In April of 2019, I had to make the extremely hard decision to place her in a memory care. I decided to place her at Sunol Creek Memory Care in Pleasanton. They were everything I needed and nothing I expected.
The staff at Sunol Creek Memory Care became a second family to me and treated my my mom as one of their own. Memory care is a calling.. it’s tireless work physically, emotionally and mentally. One does not go into memory care for the money as it's a significantly underpaid job for all they do for our loved ones suffering from dementia.
I encourage you to view photos on their Facebook page (Sunol Creek Memory Care) to see all they do for their residents. I just can’t praise them enough. They go above and beyond EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Literally everyone from the cook, housekeeper and groundskeeper to the care takers, nurses and activities staff impacted my mommas life.
With that said, in lieu of flowers for her service (date TBD), please consider donating to the staff at Sunol Creek. This money will go directly into the hands of the staff that cared for my mom. It does not go to the facility as they do not accept donations. The staff is not aware that I’ve requested this.. but what I can tell you is I got to know many of them personally and they so deserve every dime.

Lastly, I appreciate all the support from my family and friends over the last 10 years. These final years and these last 7 months especially were really tough but Sunol Creek supported me every step of the way. I’m eternally grateful for the kindness they showed my mom and my family and for allowing us to be with her these last 6 weeks.
