Amber wants to help animals

Out of nowhere, Amber came to me and told me that she wants to donate her Christmas money to animals who need help. I asked her if she was sure and she said “Yes Mama, please help me.” I was so moved about it, that I posted about it on Facebook. It made my day that my child didn’t ask for an iPad or an Xbox, instead she’d rather help animals in need. She said she always wanted to be a veterinarian, but didn’t want to wait so long to start helping.

After I posted, people started responding that they’d like to help Amber reach her goal and this, to me, is the best Christmas gift. Amber would like to create a hand-drawn card with illustrations of animals and the story of how she decided to donate to Hi-Tor Animal Shelter and deliver it to Hi-Tor in person along with whatever donations she collects. When she goes, we will take photos and tell you all what happens. We’re hoping Amber’s generosity will inspire other children to think about what they can give to others during the holidays.
