Help NJUS Keep Our (c)(3) Status!

Since its incorporation nearly four years ago New Jersey United Students (NJUS) has been a powerful force for college students in the state of NJ and in the nation.
Through the use of direct action organizing NJUS has been able to win large victories in the state, most recently NJUS was able to win a 1.565 million dollar increase in the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program, a program aimed at ensuring that low income students are able to gain an education. NJUS also had the privilege of working with other groups across the state to pass New Jersey Tuition Equity for Dreamers, which has allowed undocumented students in NJ to pay in-state tuition rates. The campuses in which we have direct campus representation have seen low tuition increases in some cases a 0% increase (looking at you Rowan University!) These victories are no small accomplishment given the trend in anti-public education nationwide.
NJUS believes in the importance of grassroots organizations and power , which is why we have workshops to assist in the development of student led organizations around the state. NJUS also serves as an organization in which students can gain assistance, comfort, support and guidance.
NJUS' funding model is based on student campus based referendums. Previously we had relied on fundraising from local organizations or donations to survive, however at the end of last year we were able to pass referendums on two campuses to make us completely student funded. Unfortunately, bureaucracy is preventing us from being able to access that money and we must turn to fundraising again to be able to pay for our non-profit status so we can continue to do the work that needs to be done.
We will not stop and we cannot stop until higher education is affordable and accessible in New Jersey and in the entire country for all who choose to seek it. Higher education is a right not a privilege.
