The Land Loss Prevention Project (LLPP) is re-positioning itself as an organization and we need your support. We are seeking your assistance to continue our mission, which is currently facing serious challenges even as the disadvantaged communities we serve need our services more than ever.
In 1983, the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers created the LLPP to help stem the disproportionate loss of African-American owned land in the state. Through our expert legal services, we developed a more comprehensive understanding of the overwhelming needs in our state’s agricultural sector and for the past twenty years we expanded our mandate to provide legal services to all limited-resource farmers and rural landowners.
As we continue to protect wealth, land preservation, and rural livelihoods, we are proud to share that in the past four years we assisted over 3,000 clients and gained $5,173,084 in debt relief, loan modifications, and awards for our clients. In the past year, our farmer clients secured $1,000,000 in debt relief and awards and preserved close to $1,000,000 in tax value for farmer-owned land from loss.
Now all of this is in danger. Last year, the state legislature eliminated half of our organization's operating budget.
Would you please consider making a tax-deductible donation to continue our on-going client services? Without the support of donations from friends like you, we will likely have to deny services to clients who literally have nowhere else to turn.
