Marley’s has been open in Ferguson for six and half years. We started out by remodeling the old building and making this place a nice neighborhood bar. Over the years we have struggled at times, but have always been able to at least pay the bills. Due to all of the recent unrest in Ferguson, we are not so lucky this time and we need your help.
Through these past several months Marley’s has kept the doors open, but business is down. We believe that staying open the week after the announcement is one of the reasons that our building has so far not sustained any physical damage. But some people are now afraid to come here, because we are in Ferguson. As a result we have had to cut employee hours, which affects their livelihood. And sales over the past four months are way down, making our survival questionable.
But even through the recent unrest, Marley’s has tried to help others as much as we can. We hosted a canned food drive to help a local parish. We held two separate silent auctions, one to help a young lady’s family pay for her funeral and one to help A Soldiers Wish List. The latest fundraiser was the night before Thanksgiving when we did a Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em robot tournament to raise money for The Backstoppers. We are also collecting toys for the Toys for Tots campaign.
We have been fortunate that we have only had minor issues. This is because of the support we have received from the police and now National Guard that are protecting our town.
We are asking for your help and thank you in advance for your support.
