It was a very basic routinal day for me on the 7th of November. I was hooping at the gym in Wharton, TX getting better with my craft. Preparing myself to work out with a recruiter for a D-league team and getting ready to leave to go overseas. Upon wrapping up practice with my coach I was asked by his associate to help him move his other car to his apartment. I agreed to help the gentleman out since the apartments were literally across the street from the school.
Upon arriving at the apartment complex, I heard bullets began to fire at the vehicle that I was operating. 2 hit my finger, 2 hit behind my shoulder blade, and 1 hit my leg. I immediately told myself if I stayed in the car I'm dead man. So in order to save my own life I looked for the quickest way out of the car. I threw myself to the driver side in an effort to save my own life. In doing so I knocked myself uncontagious on the concrete. I remembered asking a gentleman, who I assume was video taping the shooting, that I had been shot and to please get me to hospital. He gets me to the Wharton County Hospital and I was then flown out via helicopter, to the Houston Medical Center where I underwent surgery.
Due to the shooting I lost my index finger and sustained 5 fractures in my right hand. I am also suffering with 5 fractures in my hip, where a bullet is still lodged and I have a piece of my hip bone that was shot off, floating around in my leg. However I am very grateful that the Almighty Father we serve spared my life and allowed me to see yet another day on earth with my family.
As of right now I am sitting at home on bedrest, trying to recover spirtually, physically and mentally from my traumatizing experience. In these unforseen circumstances, I would like to ask, plead, and beg with you all to please pray for me and help me raise money to pay off my medical bills. Any amount, small or big, helps and it will be greatly appreciated. God Bless you all. I was given a second chance at life.
