Everyone has a story that they don’t normally tell, and you may be surprised to learn the story of Tim Hutto’s family. If you’ve met Tim you would think that he has a relatively normal life due to his humorous nature, positive attitude and happy-go-lucky personality, but what you see on the outside is not always what’s going on inside his personal life.
So as Paul Harvey would say... “Here’s the rest of the Story”……….
Tim has been married to Lori for 26 years and has three children (Kristie, Rusty & Dusten). The Hutto family was relatively normal until 14 years ago. In 2001, Lori was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Unfortunately, unlike some MS cases, Lori’s physical condition declined very rapidly. Today, Lori is 100% disabled, meaning she can no longer do anything for herself. She needs constant care because she cannot walk, talk, feed or care for herself. There is no communication (with the exception of an occasional smile) and she has not uttered a single word in eight years. Along with MS, she also was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and viral meningitis which causes her to have frequent seizures.
When Tim is not taking care of Lori, a hired Care Giver sits with her(Monday thru Friday) for four hours a day, so that Tim can continue working. Unfortunately, because Tim can only afford to pay the worker for four hours a day, there are times when Lori is left home alone. All efforts have been made to obtain benefits for Lori (Social Security / Disability / Medicaid, etc), but because Tim makes more than $1,500 dollars a month, she is ineligible for any assistance. Therefore, all of the costs of Lori’s care are paid by Tim, including daily home healthcare and all supplies needed for her care so that Tim can continue working. These costs are roughly $15,000 thousand dollars annually not including costs for medicines and hospital visits. In addition, the Hutto family has also had to endure other personal struggles within the family that have caused an additional financial burden as well.
If you know Tim, he has never been the one to ask for help; however, he is always willing to help someone else in need. Whether it’s helping out a friend in the middle of the night or donating his time or talents to help with other benefits for people in need, Tim never hesitates to lend a hand.
As you can see, Tim and his family have gone through a lot over the past several years. Please join us in helping out this sweet family by giving a donation to help offset the costs of providing daily home care for Tim’s wife Lori. Please also continue praying for this family.
