Donation protected
1500 kind souls with $1 to spare each could give piece of mind to a struggling couple.  Can you be part of the #1500blessings that could change their lives?

Shaun+Mellissa have overcome homelessness, drug addiction, an domestic violence to build a life of love, sobriety and happiness. Their world was turned upside down when in July of 2014 Shaun was diagnosed with a life threatening illness that could have him on a transplant list in the next 5 years or less. His illness has kept him from working and he is patiently waiting for his decision from SSI. Please read on to learn more about this couple that has always fought for themselves and now need help to keep the fight going.......

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, it means the world to us.
Shaun and I met in July of 2012 and have been together ever since our first date. Our meeting isn't like others you might hear, but it's a story that we will be proud to tell our children and our grandchildren. We were both homeless and struggling with drug addiction. We were living in the same shelter and had both hit rock bottom. We were lost and didn't know how to fix our lives individually, but after we met and fell in love we finally knew why it never worked before. It was simply because we hadn't found each other yet.
We are both clean and sober, have our own apartment and possessions that we worked very hard for and we appreciate everything we have. We were hit with news that was very devastating in July of 2014 about Shaun's health. We had been going back and forth to different doctors for almost two years trying to find a reason for Shaun's pain, swelling, jaundice and other issues. Most doctors just wrote him off as an addict and didn't give us the time of day. The preconceived ideas that come along with a person on methadone who's in recovery are very real. Even doctors hold prejudice. During those two years Shaun got sicker and we didn't get answers until his new primary care doctor took him seriously. Shaun was diagnosed with stage 3 cirrhosis of the liver, spleenomyglia, enlarged kidneys that are losing function and fibroids on a liver that is already struggling to do its job. He was never an alcoholic, so this was a surprise. The doctor explained that his condition is similar to a non-smoker who gets lung cancer. Sometimes it just happens.
We spend at least one day a week at a doctors appointment that we get to by bus. We are trying all treatments available to fight this disease, but it's tiring for the both of us. Shaun is filing for SSI but as you all may know, it's long process. My fiancé is sick and I want to make life as stress free as I can for him.
Shaun and I want nothing more than to be married and enjoy as much time together as we can. I want to be able to drive my husband to his appointments so he doesn't have to carry a nausea bag with him on the bus after having a treatment for his liver. I want for him to not worry where our money for bills will come from while we are waiting for the decision from SSI. I want to spend every second keeping him happy and comfortable.
I'm working doing freelance writing work and doing hair, since a full time job isn't possible at this time when Shaun is having more symptomatic days, but we get by.
Please find it in your hearts to help a couple who has overcome so much already fight this battle with just a little less to worry about. Anything helps and just knowing that others support our love makes it all worth it.
In the words of John Lennon, All we need is Love......

Thank you so much.....
