Please Sponsor Two Halifax Search and Rescue Dogs!

Halifax, Nova Scotia is home to one of the most active search and rescue regions in North America per capita. Nova Scotia is 80% covered by forest so there is unfortunately a lot of demand for Halifax Search and Rescue volunteers to be on call 24/7.

As a non-profit organization, we struggle to garner enough funds to cover our operational and special training requirements for the team every year. While we receive municipal support, we fund raise for the vast majority of the highly specialized equipment, vehicles, and safety gear needed to help bring the missing person home.

We are looking for your support to sponsor our K9 team. Annual expenses for the K9 team includes vet insurance; equipment; maintenance of our training site/agility course; specialized training; and, annual validations.

In 2003, Hurricane Juan took made a direct hit through Halifax. Now, 12 years later, we’re faced with significantly decomposing trees in our area. Trees that could easily cause fatal damage to a dog while on a search.

Halifax Search and Rescue is working towards ensuring the health and safety of each K9 searcher through the provision of a K9 Storm Vest. These vests will help protect the critical organs while they’re searching.

To sponsor one dog for one year, we need $3,500. We have 4 dogs. Please help us keep this K9 team active and our community safe.
