We are the Fanatical LEGO Lovers, a team of home schooled kids on the Sunshine Coast who entered into the First LEGO League competition at the Qld University of Technology in Brisbane last Saturday, 22nd Nov. This was our first year in the comp, a rookie team - just kids who love LEGO and robotics. But we were keen.
We won the robot game, a challenge where the LEGO Mindstorms robot has to be built and programmed to do specific missions. We were up against 36 other teams of different ages, and we didn't expect to win. We also won a second trophy for the best research into our oral presentation. We were invited to represent Qld at the national championships in Sydney!
Do we want to go? YES! But we are not a school team, we don't have funding to help us get there. We are four families that would love to make this happen. It is only 2 weeks away - 6th Dec, and we need to raise $3500 to get us there.
The most expensive part of the trip is the flights, but we also need accommodation, meals for the two days, transport to the university, and probably a bit extra for emergencies!
Please help us get to the national championships! We are still working hard on modifying our programs and bettering our times, in the hope that we will make it to Sydney.
We only need 350 people to donate $10 each, but if you donate more, we can buy our plane tickets even sooner!
