Fighting Glioblastoma

My sweet, beautiful mother, Marie Norton, had a seizure at her massage therapy job in mid July of 2014. This obviously came as a huge surprise to my family, as she had previously appeared to be in good health and had displayed no other symptoms or behavior that concerned us. My family and I never would have thought we were going to be faced with Glioblastoma 4, one of the most aggressive brain tumors known to man. Median survival is the time at which an equal number of patients do better and an equal number of patients do worse. With standard treatment, median survival for adults with an anaplastic astrocytoma is about two to three years. For adults with more aggressive glioblastoma, treated with concurrent temozolamide and radiation therapy, median survival is about 14.6 months and two-year survival is 30%. However, a 2009 study reported that almost 10% of patients with glioblastoma may live five years or longer. Despite these statistics, my mother's brain tumor has been mostly removed and the operation was successful. She is undergoing chemo and radiation treatment. Unfortunately, my mother cannot drive or work due to her potentially having another seizure, leaving her unemployed. She has applied for disability and unemployment, however, these things will not kick in until March and the exact date is still being processed by DSHS. Her money that she has saved is slowly dwindling and we are all feeling anxious about this. Here's where you guys come in. We desperately need your donations. Anything helps!
