Car Accident Recovery Drive
TL;dr: Got into a serious car crash, fractured my sternum, need help.
On the afternoon of Friday, November 21st my boyfriend and I were driving southbound on the 5 on the way to Del Mar when the van ahead of us in the number 1 lane slams on his brakes abruptly. We tried to get into the emergency lane, but a BMW was already occupying the space so we had no choice but to slam into the rear of the van at around 45 mph. My boyfriend already had engaged the brakes, but it wasn't enough and we crashed pretty severely into it. He walked away with minor injuries, a selt belt abrasion to the neck and bruising on the face, chest and knee. However I wasn't as lucky and the seat belt caused me some serious injuries. I am suffering from a fractured sternum and severe bruising, which the doctors thought it was result of ruptured internals. Having asthma, a fractured sternum is probably one of the most frustrating things since I cannot expand my lungs as much as I should, and coughing is dangerous.
I am currently self employed as a digital artist with absolutely no insurance, so needless to say I am desperatly looking for some help. The total of my gofundme is to cover my medical bills, which includes a ER walk-in, x-rays, CT scans, blood/urine work, the ambulance ride and my care at the ER, as well as my medication ($6,000+). I am also asking if I could get some help for this week (probably two weeks) of being out of work since sitting up for prolonged amounts of time stresses my body ($1000), and the act of drawing is nearly impossible. We also no longer have a registered car, mine is not smog legal and would take a few grand to get up to speed to registering, it is going to be a non operating car shortly because of this.
