Meow, I'm Honey... I've had a tough 4 weeks recently....

I'm almost 2 this year and mummy and I have now lived together for 10 months since she adopted me after 2 different people left me with a lovely lovely vet in South London.... I've had all the freedom I wanted to roam the neighbourhood (mummy calls me a very nosy cat) until about 4 weeks ago ....

Here's how my tough month started (August is no longer my favourite month!) ....

On a Monday morning a few weeks ago, I cuddled mummy, had some delicious salmon food for breakfast and I ran out to enjoy the sunshine of Brentford. I chilled out in the local gardens, wandered around, then decided to play it wild and stayed out all night.... on the Tuesday while sniffing around some bushes by the main road I got scared and I leaped into the big main road by accident.... unfortunately I got clipped by a car, it was very scary and it really hurt my pelvis. I saw someone run to help me but I was scared so I run off into the bushes on the other side of the road (I'm a very good runner.... mummy says I'm like lightning speed).
I was really scared that night and in pain so I didn't dare start my journey back home until the Wednesday morning. This time I looked both ways like a good kitty on the crossing, and the cars actually stopped for me. Still scary but they were nice, they must have seen me dragging my bottom across the road and my broken pelvis.

The next few days were a bit of a blurr, I slowly crawled my way through the street and the gardens to get back to mummy. I'm normally really good at getting home fast, I think that bump must've confused me as it took me 5 days to make it half way along my mummy's road. Every evening I thought I heard mummy calling me, but it must've been in my dreams... I thought I almost got to her house on the Sunday morning, and I saw a nice lady come out to say hello, but I didn't think it was mummy so I run away and hid. Wrong house :(

By the Monday, I was hungry as hadn't eaten in 7 days since my salmon breakfast (big face lick at the thought), and I was really missing home, so I summed up my last bit of strength and when it was dark and quiet, I crawled into mummy's garden, looked up at her bedroom window (glad she's such a night owl as it was midnight) and I managed to let out a little meow.... I waited for a moment, please hear me, please!!! Luckily (super meow!) I saw mummy run to her window and call out to me. I was overjoyed; I got all my strength together to let out another louder painful meow..... she must recognise me now!!! She must come get me!!

Then all of a sudden, I saw the garden gate open and I saw mummy with a very bright light in her hand, I was soooo happy to see her. I crawled to her, dragging my bottom and hind legs and followed her to the house. She looked very concerned, maybe it was my zig zag body, that pelvis was really painful. I got to the door and couldn’t quite crawl up the stairs, luckily mummy scooped me up and carried me to the kitchen, and gave me... yess..... you guessed it a beautifully smelly tin of salmon food! I was in pain, but in heaven!!

Once I got home , things moved fast, we seemed to take a taxi to an emergency vet. They gave me some more food and some painkillers. Night was tough but mummy and I talked together. In the morning we got another taxi to my regular vet. There mummy left me for a while, they gave me some relaxing juice and took some funny pictures of my bones and pelvis. It hurt a bit and I think I stopped them taking really good photos.
That afternoon mummy came to fetch me, I felt really relaxed after all the relaxing juice I got from my vet.

We went on another long long loooooong journey to Hertfordshire; I really liked the fields we kept passing. Once we got there, I met a really nice vet, among very pretty farms, and I got comfortable in my new room.... think I might've been operated on as I woke up the next morning very hungry and my leg worked, I was very excited! Someone had put my pelvis back together!!!

I stayed there in the pretty countryside for 3 more days til mummy and her whole family came to get me. I felt really special, no one else had so many people coming to get them :)

Since then I've been living in a cage, not a fan really, but it was lent to us by a lovely animal rescue lady who came and gave me some nice snacks! I've been giving mummy a bit of a tough time and I've been sharpening my claws on her a fair bit.

I do really love my freedom and I miss running around the garden, munching on the eucalyptus tree branches, chasing mice and birds (mummy's not too keen on that one) and running in and out of the house to tell mummy all about my adventures.... I do miss my freedom (did I say that already?!). Mummy keeps telling me I'll be getting out there soon, keeps giving me cuddles, feeds me all my favourite food and snacks and buys me funny colour toys... I personally prefer the handmade feather on a string that she made for me, I don't really understand the 'plastic playground' that she got me this weekend, oh well, she means well ....

Anyway, I'm costing mummy quite a bit of money as she thought I was so young and healthy that I didn't need pet insurance (she keeps telling me she's kicking herself, so I try to claw her less on those days) so we don't have the insurance to pay for my pelvis operation and hospital stay, the x rays and all the appointments (I'm not looking forward to my next x ray in 4 weeks, yuk!).

Thought I'd convince people with my cuteness and highly intelligent conversation (mummy and I discuss all manner of topics on a daily basis and I try to make the same words as she does, I think they sound really good) to donate and help mummy look after me...(mummy's too embarrassed to ask herself).

We thank you!! cat kisses xxx

(ps. the pic below shows how I like to redecorate my cage while mummy's not looking, I'm really good at redecorating)
