Home for Hope

Home for Hope is a passion that God has laid on our hearts and we pray that He's laid it on yours too.  The Background: Every day, thousands of children in Arkansas live in the foster care system. Imagine, no one to call your forever family and no place to call a permanent home. Many children face this reality, everyday.  The Problem:  God's first institution was the family, Adam and Eve.  He created the family before establishing government or even the church.  It must have significant importance to Him, and it should be equally as important to us.   The Solution:  To solve the problem and establish permanent homes for these amazing kids, we must first determine barriers that prevent or deter good and loving families from adopting children out of the foster care system.   One barrier that God has laid on our hearts is housing.  While discussing all the possible details of our dreams to adopt in the near future, we determined that we'd be able to adopt more children if we just had more space.  We feel that God wants us to give many children a home and we know that He will provide a way for us to do so.  Upon this discovery of our own dilemma, we took the idea and blew it up on a larger scale.  We asked ourselves, "How many other families would adopt children or more children (if they have already adopted) if affordable housing or maintenance (in the event their current home isn't up to standards) were available?". The answer?  Well, we can only assume that the answer is quite a large number of families. The missions of Home for Hope are: to provide spacious, safe, and affordable housing for foster/adoptive families, to establish a community garden, to serve in local missions (lawn service for single parents or the elderly, accessibility features for handicapped children added so that their home is safe and enjoyable), and to educate and enrich families with proper life skills that end the cycle of family destruction.  Family should be our first priority, but for so many in our state and others, family is an elusive dream that some even lose hope of.   Transparency: We pray to be able to raise $175,000 for startup. While our fundraising campaign is taking place, we are consulting with an attorney and an accounting firm to establish non-profit status. Although this can be a lengthy and costly task, we feel that it is the best way to preserve God's purpose for this organization and the organization's integrity. It is extremely important for a few reasons. The first reason is to prevent profit-making for anyone involved. All properties and funds will be placed into an account for Home for Hope. Board members will be appointed to discuss, pray for, and vote upon any decisions to be made. Another reason is so that this dream that God has placed upon our hearts will not fade when our days are over. It will continue until there is no need, at which point (praying that this time comes) the assets will be transfered to another organization that will also benefit children and families. The last reason is so that the funds raised will be better used for God's purpose without the burden of taxes. Our startup goal is large, but not impossible and we hope to be able to be self-sufficient after the startup costs are raised.
