Hog Haven Farm is a 501C3 nonprofit dedicated to all things potbelly pig. We provide rescue, sanctuary, education, outreach, and therapy with and for these amazing creatures. It all started in 2013, when Erin and Andrew Burgardt became pet pig parents for the first time with Pipsqueak. They had no idea what they were in for--or what pig ownership would ultimately lead to. Fast forward a year...the Burgardt's realized there was a huge demand for pig rescue in Colorado. Just like other exotic pets, potbelly pigs are frequently being abandoned, surrendered, and neglected. There is a lot of poor information online, and coming from miniature pig breeders, and the pigs are the ones who suffer.
In 2014, Hog Haven Farm was born. We started small in Denver, CO, and the nonprofit started to blow up faster than we could ever imagine (or be prepared for!). By the time our 1 year anniversary came around, we had to move to a bigger location, with zoning requirements to fit our growing operation...and it continues to grow! We survived the first winter on our small farm in Byers, CO, but with more than 30 pigs currently in our care, we are in desperate need of a barn to house all of them.
Your generous support will allow us to build a barn, complete with electrical and plumbing, to house our growing family of potbelly pigs, our two commercial pigs, and our two miniature donkeys. This building will protect them from the elements, and provide a warm place to sleep comfortably.
Additionally, we need funds to reinforce existing fencing across our property, allowing us to keep the animals safe at all times. Trees need to be planted in areas to provide shade for the pigs as well--crucial for the upcoming summer months.
Hog Haven Farm cannot survive without your support--and we are so grateful for any contribution you can make! Building a barn and improving the property will allow us to not only provide the best possible care for our animals, but will allow us to continue helping other pigs in need.
