Hello, my name is Courtney Paret. In 2002 I met the love of my life and in 2011 we welcomed an amazing little boy into this world. Very few people could say they ended up with their high school sweetheart. But I did. And without the love and support from him and the family we created together, I would not have been able to get through some of the things I've had to endure in my life.
In 2009, three months before i walked down the aisle, I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. A few weeks later, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I simultaneously had two completely unrelated forms of cancer by the age of 23. I had no family history of either. I didn't even carry the genes for it. I had multiple major surgeries within weeks of each other and was cleared of cancer in 2011.
Just a few days ago, after my yearly follow up ultrasound, a high amount of cancer lesions were spotted in my body. It is a necessity for me to get CT scan and MRI to know for sure if my cancer has come back or if i could possibly have a different form of cancer altogether.
The reason why I am asking for help is my insurance company, due to a clerical error and certain insurance restrictions, is threatening to cancel my insurance plan if I fail to pay them $2008 by this week. I desperately require insurance coverage so I may continue with all my doctors appointments that I have right now. My doctors appointments are follow-up appointments for the probable reoccurrence of the cancer I thought I had recovered from a few years ago. My husband and I are completely unable to afford $2000 so I'm humbly asking all of my family, friends and strangers to please help us raise this money so I can get my insurance back by this Friday. I'm scared to death of getting cancer again. I've gone almost five years cancer free and I want to continue on that path. I desperately want to live for my son. He needs his mommy. I need to know if I have cancer or if it's just a scare. I have attempted to obtain insurance through the government within a program called Medi-Cal. Medi-cal is unable to cover me because I don't meet their standards. Covered California mistakenly said I am not a US citizen which erroneously disqualified me. Without going into unnecessary detail, if I am not able to secure insurance by this Friday, it will leave me with $100,000+ plus in medical bills for the last three months of care. I feel completely stuck.
This is a very scary time for me I'm not very good at asking for help but we need help. So I'm asking if my family friends and strangers if you guys could please help it be very much appreciated!
