A Sanctuary for Lance is the name I chose for this campaign as the primary focus will be attaining a long term sustainable home and care sollution for Lance.
Almost a year ago Lance began to loose ability to function in day to day life. An illness in the Schizophrenic spectrum rapidly began to overcome his personable, talented and capable nature.
To date he has experienced most every aspect of the disease. Social withdrawal, mania, depression, catatonia, delusions as well as hallucinations.
In part this campaign is the start of a much broader campaign. One aimed at helping minimize the loss that is common with this type of illness, for the person with and the familys that care for them. The primary focus here though is long term sustainable care for Lance.
The funds gained will be applied in several ways.
1. Toward helping with the expense of care while SSI/Medicaid are not active. These services are being sought.
2. Gaining conservatorship as basic functioning is beyond the scope of ability at this time.
3. Obtaining a home/sanctuary for Lance. To be placed in trust that he would not become homeless in the event no family is available or able to care for him.
4. Help start the process of launching a not for profit group aimed at helping families overcome the major obstacles of long term care when this disabling disease is present and severe.
For the past year our family has been hostage to the affects of this wasting disease. Today with your help we will begin to turn the tide not only for our family but for many more hurting people.
