Help Nathan Schuster Walk Again!!!

Back in May, 2009, our lives changed forever. The Schuster family was in a terrible car accident that left us with three broken backs, a broken neck and a lot of medical bills and therapy. But no one suffered as much as Nathan.
Nathan was only 17 when our car rolled the length of a football field, tossing him out of the car and compressing his spine among many other injuries. It is amazing that he survived and he has had a trying road ever since.
While the use of his legs and some of his upper body has been taken away, his mind and spirit have not! With a C4-6 injury, Nathan was not "supposed" to be able to breathe on his own, yet alone get much function in his upper body and feeling in his lower extremities. ALLLL of which with therapy and time have started to slowly return. However...we have always known that it would take a very special program for him to have a fighting chance at walking again. This is where we are asking for help....
God has placed an opportunity for Nathan to attend a highly specialized spinal rehabilitation facility for a months time. This great program, PROJECT WALK, is nothing short of amazing and has had much success with injuries such as Nathan's. We have been praying for an answer of how to help Nathan and are extremely excited that he was accepted to attend as openings are limited.
While PROJECT WALK is amazing, their services are not covered by insurance and they are located in San Diego, CA. We live in Chicago. Therefore, we have compiled the cost to have him attend the therapy sessions, food and lodging for himself and his care worker, salary for his care worker, transportation and minimal miscellaneous expeditures for the one month timeframe...all of which have been estimated at approximately $20,000. We have been able to support some of the cost, but are asking for help. Whether big or small, any contribution will help get Nathan to San Diego.
Please consider helping Nathan! He is such a smart and amazing man who deserves to have the chance to have his life back...even if it takes six more years...he won't give up! Especially since we know he CAN walk again...he just needs the right tools to get his body to "remember" how to do it.
