My father and your beloved Gurmukh Mike Noury of Yoga of India is seriously unwell with a mysterious, rapidly progressing dementia-type condition called Limbic Encephalitis (LE.)
LE involves the build-up of auto-antibodies in the brain that blocks and interferes with cognition, memory, and function. My dad suffers from severe memory issues as a result, as well as at least 4-5 seizures an hour. We have spent weeks getting to the bottom of what is plaguing him and have incurred more medical bills than we can afford. His prognosis is unknown and in the meantime, he is undergoing various cutting edge and costly treatments that may or may not help, as this condition is rare and very little research has been done. One treatment is IVIg (immunoglobulin IV) and it is exorbitant in price. We have been forced to place my dad in a residence with other patients suffering from dementia, as he is currently a hazard to himself; he has no concept of present time or where he is, and requires 24/7 surveillance which doesn't come cheaply.
You are reading this because my dad has touched your life in some way--through yoga, yoga therapy, yoga massage, teacher training, or in friendship. Throughout this heartbreaking, confusing time, I've been blown away by the stories of transformation that my dad helped facilitate. He has healed and helped so many people.
My prayer and hope is that you look to help and heal the man who has brought so much healing to this world.
