Jake's Racing Fund

It has been a dream of mine, from a very young age to one day race cars professionally. As a child, the "What do you want to be when you grow up?" cliche' never dulled my answer, " A Race Car Driver." Id say. Here, some twenty years past those first conversations, I still feel that calling. I even enlisted in the USAF, with hopes to fund a racing career in the future. After three and a half years of service, and nearing the end of my enlistment, it is now readily apparent to me that time is of the essence and dreams are seldom obtained by a cautious spirit. The big "How?" was always my disqualifying factor, as I am not yet as financially free as I one day hope to be. When I found out about this program, and the opportunity that it could provide, I knew that it was imperative that I take action to obtain that drivers seat I'm after. I watched the testimonial video at the bottom of the application page, and felt my eyes widen as I recognized a former high school class mate, now Indycar driver. I remembered him telling me his hopes to one day race open wheel cars, and now seeing his own dreams come true, I have found a rebirth of ambition to go after my own. I firmly believe that I have a passion, and willingness to learn, that would do well to serve as my foundation for a career in motorsports.

I have sent an application to Skip Barber Racing School, with hopes to be accepted into their INDYCAR Academy shootout. Only 33 applicants will be selected for the chance to win a scholarship to race in the first rung of the INDYCAR ladder. To be selected, one must first attend the prerequisite courses which are listed below, along with the costs to attend. I must book and pay in full these classes, by the end of april, in order to attend.


3 Day Racing School, April 23-25, $3300.00
2 Day Advanced Racing School, May 13-14, $2600.00

It is my hope to excell in these courses, so that I will be accepted into the INDYCAR Academy, which will cost another $3000.00
