Helping Pat fight her ALS battle

Donation protected
So, it's been a couple years since we utilized this go fund me page.  We were doing  pretty well  with the help  from this page and fundraisers we did with the public,  then Mom getting her Medicare  helped out tremendously.  But here we are at another difficult time in this journey of ours.  For those that don't know,  on October 17th, 2017, my mom landed herself  in a hospital bed  fighting to breathe on her own, fighting for her life.  She ended up with an emergency airway placed and hooked to a ventilator .  Doctors and nurses were unsure that she would make it through that day , it was very scary to say the least.  Fast forward to today and she is doing extremely well considering  what she has been through! She has a few more machines to help her sustain a certain quality of life  but she's doing well.  She's doing  pretty darn well considering she wasn't really expected to make it through that horrible day.  So then why, you ask, are we utilizing this page again? Well since that Dreadful day my stepfather has been unable to go back to work. They have no other source of income other than the $300 a month my mother gets for Social Security. They do not qualify at this time for any assistance unfortunately but we are in the process of trying to find something to help them. We have been applying and playing the waiting game for some sort of help and assistance since early November but to no avail. They have lived off of the money in their savings and checking's since this all occurred and they have almost depleted that said money. With him not being able to go to work there is no way for them to have an income. Mom cannot be left alone as she needs care and financially none of us can afford to bring in someone to care for her.  My sister and Icannot be there to do all of her care unfortunately as we have to keep our own source of income to help provide for our families. I wish I could be there more than what I am, I'm there every other weekend and as many evenings possible but it is still not enough for my step father to be able to return to work. This is where they need help, as we try and wait to get some sort of help we are at a point where we must reach out for help to you. It's not easy asking for help, theres a lot of pride swallowed, but sometimes in life we must do whatever needs to be done to be able to sustain life. So here we are, asking for help from whomever may be able to help. It doesnt matter how much or how little help is given, it is all sincerely appreciated the same! Family, friends, strangers... whomever you are that feels you want to help, we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts and greatly appreciate you!If you are not familiar with my mother's diagnosis please read below! Thank you again!

Here's an updated photo of my mother! You can see the physical changes that have occured since we last updated this page. Still beautiful as ever though!

Family and friends!!!!! I need your help!!! My mom's ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease) is progressing and it's really starting to affect her speech and she will be in need of assistance of a machine to help her speak. Her insurance sucks and her and my stepdad are overwhelmed with their medical bills as it is (my stepdad had lymphoma, a form of leukemia and is currently in remission). Als is a nasty, nasty disease i wouldnt wish upon my worst enemy! What is ALS? Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or you may hear it or recognize it as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. In other words, it affects every part of her eventually causing her to have no movement or speech, she will "eat" through a tube and breath by a machine cause she cant use her muscles that we take for granted daily! Als doesnt affect many in our area, unfortunately my mama is a "winner" and has, til this point, been handling it sort of gracefully. Would you help me help my mama with a donation? Big or small, it all will help her! Im not one to ask for help, I've inherited that from my beautiful mama, but this, this is more important than any pride! Everyone only gets one mama, and I'm gonna fight to help give mine what she needs to fight back against this horrible enemy! Thank you so much, you just dont know how much your help is truly appreciated!
