Help Abused Men Have a Voice

My name is Patty and I am a Psychotherapist who specializes in the treatment of trauma and abuse. Through my years of working with abuse survivors, I have discovered that there is shockingly little support or help for ABUSED MEN.
At least 4 out of every 11 men will be a victim to some form of abuse (sexual, physical or verbal). I suspect that these numbers are low because of the amount of abuse that goes unreported or ignored by men. Our culture does not support the idea that men can be abused, especially by women, and thus this population faces a significant lack or resources nationally. I, personally, have had countless numbers of men turned away from community resources when they have sought help after leaving an abusive relationship. In addition, there is very little information about interventions, safety planning or treatment for this underserved population. Men and Women are very different and the treatment for a male abuse survivor is very different.
These men often feel very alone and do not report the abuse because they are afraid of not being believed, being rejected and being looked upon as weak. These men need to have a voice and need to know that they are not alone. I have joined a local non for profit that does serve abused men and I now desire to write a book to help the public become more aware of this silent epidemic and to help other professionals better serve this population.
The donations I am asking for is to cover the cost of paper publishing and give me the ability to provide free copies to men in need and other professionals. Help me be a voice for ABUSED MEN and let's break the silence. Please help me fund the writing and publishing of this book.
