Help Wagga Rescue Squad Stay Afloat

The Wagga Wagga Rescue Squad (WWRS) is the oldest volunteer rescue organisation in New South Wales. The WWRS was renowned for its operation of a boat “shuttle service" between North Wagga Wagga and Wagga Wagga, rescuing trapped people by flood waters during the many times of the great floods from 1952 to more recent in 2016. The efforts of the squad were reflected by the appreciation of those trapped and by the farmers of livestock which was also rescued by the squad.
WWRS members are full time workers that volunteer their time to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are available for all types of rescue. Members are trained and ready to respond quickly to aid Wagga Wagga residents in the time of need when a rescue situation arises, which includes motor vehicle accident, floods and storms, children locked in vehicles, animal rescue and people requiring rescue from the Murrumbidgee River and more importantly flood river rescue.
The Squad is equipped with some of the most up-to-date hydraulic, battery and electrically operated rescue equipment for land rescue operations, which could not be possible without the continued support from your generous donations, however, we currently lack capability with our boats and marine equipment which needs updating.
Our goal is to acquire sufficient funds to replace a boat that has been a part of WWRS for about 40 years and was predominantly used during the 1974 floods. The boat has served the WWRS and the Wagga Wagga community well; however it needs replacing to enable the WWRS to continue to provide maritime support and rescue capability to Wagga Wagga residents, animals and livestock for many years to come should the need ever arise again.
