HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR TIMOR COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Donation protected

The Rotary Club of Margaret River, WA has been assisting the Timorese people since 2011 to help build community projects, as requested by them. So far, our Rotary Club has helped schools with putting in 2 water pumps, 5 playgrounds, supplying 140 laptops, 2 multipurpose sports courts and communities with re-afforestation and building a solar powered cattle watering station and well and a number of smaller projects.

After the recent trip to Baguia in September 2018, it became obvious that there were still many more projects that could be undertaken, to improve the daily lives of the community.  It became clear that the funds available, would not be enough to cover the projects. This is where we need your help!

We need your help to refurbish a fire smoke damaged building that will be used as a community hall as well as a lecture room for agricultural learning. There are also two schools that need electrical repairs, so that their one computer can be utilised, as well as further repairs to broken windows and roofing.

The local communities do not have the money to buy materials, but they do have the skills to do most of the work. Rotary will manage the projects and funds as well as offer assistance. We are looking to raise $15,000 to enable the works to be done.

Baguia is 200kms (7 hours by road) from Dili in the mountains and is a community of subsistence farmers.
