Damon was born with right coronal craniosynostosis. This diagnosis resulted in fourteen different surgeries, vision loss in his left eye, and developmental delays. In addition to these medical concerns, Damon was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, an Autistic spectrum disorder at age two. This diagnosis results in social interaction/intergration and language difficulties. Damon has spent years in occupational and speach therapy to improve his ability to interact with the world. In spite of these difficulties, Damon has fought exceptionally hard to graduate highschool and achieve his goals to attend college. He will graduate from high school with a 3.5 GPA, and has been accepted into Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN. where he will study civil engineering. Damon continues to have difficulties in social situations, struggling with loud noises, crowds, and people. His physician and therapist have recommended a service disability dog to help ease his transition and optimize his ability to learn, work, and exceed in life. Please consider helping this young man ease his transition and allow for a successful college journey.
