Amy Majors : Double Lung Transplant

Please help give the breath of life to Amy Majors, a 33 year old, Senoia, Georgia native in dire need of a double lung transplant. She is on an active waiting list at Emory Hospital in Atlanta due to inheriting pulmonary hypertension. The stress of the pulmonary hypertension has also weakened her heart.

Amy is facing a tough battle ahead and in an attempt to make it easier and less stressful this page has been set up.
Because of complications with her appendix, colon, and liver further test are going to be needed for her to be on a transplant list.
At this point and time none of her medications are being covered. The total cost of these medications are $8,000.00 a month.
Amy is currently working on getting grants to cover the cost of these medications for which she can not live without.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to obtain these medications will be appreciated.

After her surgery, Amy has been told that she will need to stay in the hospital for approximately 30 days and then be transferred to a rehabilitation center for an undetermined period of time. After care is crucial and expensive. For the first year after a transplant, a patient remains at high risk of rejection.

Amy has been denied disability insurance.

She had been employed for 15 years as a Certified Pharmacy Tech with Rite Aid Drugstores, but due to her failing heath, she is no longer employed there and therefore does not have any health insurance.

Amy is a single mother of Michael (Age 7) (Pictured), who attends 1st Grade at Eastside Elementary School in Senoia, Georgia.

Being independent and self-supporting has always been important to Amy. Prior to graduating from East Coweta High School in 2003, she began working at Schlotzkys Deli. At 17 during her Senior year, she attended West Georgia College for 1/2 day and received a degree as a Dental Assistant.

She then attended Fort Valley State University where she was voted Miss Fort Valley.

Finally, she attended Clayton State University before beginning work at Rite Aid. In addition to working full time, she also worked with Regina's Helping Hands as a caregiver and companion for the elderly and terminally ill.

She is the daughter of Tommy and Regina (Herndon) Alexander who also both graduated from East Coweta High School. Both families have lived in Senoia for several years.

No donation is too small. If you are not in a positon to donate at this time, please keep Amy and her family in your prayers.

Thank You for your generosity.
