I am Jonathan Kammer,
a saxophonist and music educator in Charleston, SC.
I specialize in classical and contemporary concert music on saxophone.

HELLO, SAXOPHONE! KAMMERMUSIK
Concert Series for One & All
I am founding a sax-centric chamber music series
to make music I love with musicians I admire and respect.

Great music-making on saxophone is capable of creating enthusiasm for classical music, attracting new audiences for concert-going, and pleasing traditonal classical music audiences .
There is utility and creative & economic space for classical saxophone performance and sax-involved chamber music in Charleston, SC's incredibly vibrant music scene!

I ADORE the joy of sharing the music I love with all the folks for whom listening is also a great joy!!!

I'm going to present concerts of GREAT classical music on saxophone, with amazing musicians performing along with me, YET this will ONLY HAPPEN WITH YOUR SUPPORT!

It's going to take the support of my friends, family, colleagues, concert-goers, and the greater community to make my plans become a reality!

The first concert, "Sacred Songs & Modern Dances"
IT IS ON THE BOOKS!!!
August 28, 7:30pm @ Unitarian Church in Charleston

PLEASE JOIN IN MEMBERSHIP-LEVEL SUPPORT TO HELP MAKE THIS CONCERT A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS.

We will have a blast!
In fact, we will have a Ball!!
That's because I've commissioned a new work for
piano, violin, and tenor saxophone trio,
from the young American composer & South Carolina
musicista Laura Ball, for world premiere at this inaugural concert! Laura will be performing on piano with her well-known depth and thoughtful approach all evening!

Concert 1 will also feature performances by local classical music titans:
CSO concertmaster violinist Yuriy Bekker
Avidly concertizing cellist Terry Muir
CSO Assistant Principle violinist Asako Kremer
CSO second flute & piccoloist Regina Helcher Yost

I'll be playing the saxophone along with these folks.

What Will We Play,
besides Laura's brilliant work that will be hot off the press?
For Your Pleasure, I Present to You
"Sacred Songs & Modern Dances":

*Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch. The famed cello romance, in a brand new arrangement.
*Divertimento by Roger Boutry and
*Aria by Eugene Bozza. Two beautiful pieces of French saxophone music, both in special new arrangments for this concert!
* Epitaphe de Jean Harlow by Charles Koechlin. The popular trio for flute, saxophone, and piano.
*Serpent, a gorgeous chamber work by award-winning contemporary American composer John Anthony Lennon.
*Devil's Rag by Jean Matitia.
*Parce Mihi Domine from Cristóbal de Morales' 16-th century musical setting of the Officum Defunctorum. Composed for four-voice choir, we will perform it on organ with an improvasatory saxophone line floating above it.
*Caprice No. 16 by Niccolò Paganini, on saxophone.
*Für Alina by Arvo Pärt. Since its debut on solo piano in 1976, this simple and gorgeous musical reflection has been adapted for numerous different instruments. I am certain that this little jewel has never been done as we will perform it on Aug. 28!

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS CONCERT AND MY EFFORTS TO GET THIS SERIES OFF THE GROUND!

The saxophone is a vivid, lively, and active character in the universe of western music.
Inarguably, the sax is one of the most flexible, varied,
and expressive voices in all of instrumental music.
Eternally young, yet with an old soul,
the saxophone has experiencing first-hand every
significant stylistic development in western music
since its birth in the 1840's!

Folks love the saxophone because of its jazz, funk, blues, rock & pop stylings. This series highlights the instrument’s more orchestral side. Some will be familiar with this side of the sax's character, others will be newly delighted with the sax's excellent and valid contributions to classical chamber music performance!
