If you've come here from my blog - www.headtailconnection.wordpress.com, you'll know that I'm a graduate student at the Ohio State University. As an international student I'm not allowed to work in the US, and I'm ineligible for many of the university's own research grants. If you've enjoyed my writing, or you think my work is interesting, please consider giving a dollar or two to help fund my books, travel to conferences, research etc.
Currently I run two community resources as a way to give back my time to the people who have helped me out so far: www.thebackofjazz.wordpress.com and www.safedance.wordpress.com.
The back of jazz is an archive project to document the vocabulary of swing, blues, and other jazz-based dance forms. I run it at the request of the international blues dance community.
Safe Dance is a resource for social dance organisers to help them manage safety in their communities. I help maintain standards in policy and practice, moderate discussions, as well as acting as the safety organiser in my own scene.
Both these projects are run voluntarily around the demands of a PhD, and I would really like to see them used! Some of the money from this site goes/will go towards web space, going out to interview people, and safety literature, just as a few examples.
A lot of the teaching and mentoring I do is unpaid and uncredited, but I love it dearly and would never stop. A little extra money goes a long way towards making those classes happen by paying for my transport, or class materials.
Any donations I use will be credited on the blog with a shout out to donors who made the post possible. Anything you can give is highly appreciated.
