peace greetings and as salaam alaikum to the muhn'mun,
I'm writing this for people that know me, people who know the constant struggle that is my life. My works consists primarily of unting people in struggle, building tangible connections between projects and issues. For me that means being in a lot of different places throughout the week. I run a small business making soaps and other hygiene products, the goal of which is to create stable income for people doing human rights work and create products that improve the health of the community. I've been struggling with cancer since 2011 and have many ups and downs. This health issue creates challenges to the work I do and I have adapted in many ways because of that. One of the challenges is very basic and that is getting to the places I need to be, such as clinics, doctor appointments, meetings, health food stores, treatments and so on. If you know me you know I'm constantly working and most of my time is committed toward others. Most of my money as well. I've put aside some money to buy a car with. As I started looking for cars something occured to me. I have 900+ friends on facebook. If everyone kicked in $20 that would be 18,000... That's way more than I need and I know that many people have their own struggles and need for resources. I am asking that everyone seriously consider donating something even if it's a small amount in order to move this forward. My plan is to buy a car that runs on used vegitable oil and will not require us to pay for gas. programs it will serve include a free food distribution program, clothing and hygiene supply drives and giveaways, it will provide transportation for children to get to various classes and workshops, it will serve a free holistic medicine project and various other projects that come and go. If we raise more than enough the remainder will go towards buying a bus for the Qilombo community center here in Oakland.
