My daughter is 31 years old and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was experiencing headaches on a daily basis for a period of about a month and was referred to a neurologist for further evaluation and migraine treatment. At that time a MRI of the brain was also done.
A few days later we were called into the office to receive the results of the MRI so we knew something was wrong. I rushed to Green Bay to come to the appt with her. Our instincts were correct. A brain tumor was found in the right frontal lobe.
She had surgery last week for the biopsy which went well. The pathology results show a Grade II Astrocytoma. We still don't have the whole treatment plan finalized yet but she should be having the tumor resection done soon. The neurosurgeon has said that he doesn't believe he will be able to get all of the tumor out during the surgery and that the tumor is located very closely to part of the brain the controls major motor funtion. So....this means the the surgery will probably have to be done while Mandy is awake! She is not thrilled about this but is willing to do what has to be done.
She has not met with oncology yet either. We will update as we know more details in regards to what will happen with chemo and/or radiation.
We, her family, are trying to raise money to help her financially. Mandy is a single mom and has not been able to work since her diagnosis. She has had 2 surgeries in the past month and another one coming soon. We are raising money to help with medical bills, transportation costs, as well as her living expenses while she is unable to work. Thank you so much for your help!
