Harvest CROPS needs pickup/trailer

Harvest CROPS, (Community Residents Offering Produce Seasonally) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is harvesting residential fruit with volunteers for the benefit of unfortunate people. "Give us permission to fulfill our mission." We pick residential fruit trees with permission and appointment. Volunteer groups pick the fruit trees. All fruit is given free to families and seniors who greatly appreciate the donations.
Since 2009 the founder uses his personal vehicles. His first vehicle, Chrysler Caravan minivan , blew its engine hauling fruit. (Wife not happy). Now he uses his 1992 Ford 150 pickup, sometimes hauling over two thousand pounds of oranges from one harvest. Our trailer was recently purchased from a local donation.
We average over 5,000 lbs a month harvesting
residential fruit. That's close to 60,000 lbs a year--harvesting only about 1% of what's available in sunny southern California. Currently we have picked over 223,000 lbs of fruit -- all given free to people in need. Fruit that would spoil is now picked and given free: oranges, apples, tangerines, pears and the list goes on. At 75 cents a pound average, we have harvested about $200,000 worth--all distributed free.
Our board members are volunteers, passionate about our vision, feeding needy people with fresh residential fruit that is free just for the giving. All participates are volunteers, mostly students and families. No one is on paid salary.
As you might imagine, our budget is very limited, primarly for liability insurance and gasoline. We prove a tax-deductions receipt.
Our immediate need is an industrial pickup (with tow) along with a quality grade 5 x 7 trailer. The picture below is an example, the founder's personal pickup and trailer.
We thank you for your generosity, focused on feeding families and seniors with fresh harvested residential fruit that would otherwise spoil. We provide a win/win soluntion to a current drop and spoil culture. Together we do make a difference.
